Whistleblowing – legal requirements
Since December 2021, EU member states have been obliged to transpose the European Whistleblowing Directive into national law. The German Whistleblower Protection Act will probably come into force in the course of 2023, following approval by the Bundesrat.
This law obliges companies to set up whistleblowing contact points which offer employees and external parties the opportunity to report misconduct in a company’s working environment in a protected setting.
