“steep” was meant originally to describe the contents of the services portfolio, where “s” stood for “service”, “t” for “training”, “e” for “engineering”, “e” for “energy” and “p” for “products”. Since then, the steep portfolio has undergone major change and expansion, but a reason to change the “good name” never really arose.

steep GmbH is a technical services provider based in Bonn and represented at over 30 other locations in Germany and Europe. Backed by over 50 years of success, around 800 employees advise and support industrial and public awarding bodies in the IT, systems engineering, radar, instrumentation and testing fields – from development to system integration to documentation to training programmes for users.

Each and every employee contributes towards realizing our joint vision and earning every day the trust we enjoy from our customers. Our work as a technical services provider therefore hinges on the commitment and trusting cooperation of our employees. In addition to our core objectives of business success and the promotion of sustainability at our company, these qualities too enjoy constant nurturing and fostering.

Our daily work together is based on respect, tolerance and responsibility for a humanitarian, satisfactory and successful corporate culture. This stands at the focus of all activities by steep executives. Their day-to-day routines are guided by personal responsibility, equality and commitment.

We encourage ideas and innovations at our company and a meritocracy incorporating responsibilities and their decision-making expertise. Here, the focus is directed in equal measure on our alignment to future trends and the satisfaction of our customers and employees.

We want to give young persons a training opportunity and so prepare them for their future prospects.

It is very important to us to provide them with qualified support during their training, and with recruitment and deployment options once they have passed the final examination.

At present, our various locations offer training programmes for the following vocations:

  • IT specialist (m/f/nb)
You learn how to analyse, plan, realize, test and document complex IT systems in the field you have opted for (systems administration, systems electronics, software development). In the form of practical assignments and problem-solving tasks, you learn the general business background and the skills involved in advising and supporting customers.
  • Industrial clerk (m/f/nb)
You explore all business departments, gaining profound, practical knowledge of the business routines at a service provider.
  • Devices and systems electronics technician (m/f/nb)
You learn how to plan and steer production processes for devices, and you make, operate and service components and devices yourself. You configure systems according to customer specifications and run and manage them.
  • Industrial mechanics (m/f/nb)
As an industrial mechanic specializing in machinery and plant, you test the full operability and functionality of componentry and pre-assembled machinery. You learn how to operate CNC machine tools and perform regular inspections and maintenance.

Current training vacancies can be found in our job listings.

In addition to classical vocational training, we have joined forces with Bergisch Gladbach’s school of economics FHDW to offer the dual curriculum “Wirtschaftsinformatik – Cyber Security” (“cyber security in business informatics”). The study periods at the FHDW alternate every three months with on-the-job training at the Bonn location. The course runs for three years.

Your on-the-job training offers you insights into our company’s services portfolio and its various fields of activity, an active working environment in a number of projects hosted by our IT services BU and opportunities from the outset to assume responsibility for your assignments. What you learn you can then put into practice directly.

Interns and working students (m/f/nb) will find in many areas of our company opportunities of gaining vocational experience and applying what they have learned at school and during their studies and training.

We’ll be pleased to see whether we can offer you on-the-job training or a place as a working student in the period you wish.

Choose the job you want on our website listings, and feel free to use our applicant management system to send your application directly online. Your application should be ready to send at the most after five to ten minutes. You can, of course, simply upload any documents/files you have (ideally as PDFs).

And if you don’t have access to our website, we look forward to your application sent by e-mail (personal@steep.de) or even by post.

Our initial impressions of you should be as comprehensive as possible. We would therefore like to receive from you your own request describing your interest in the specific vacancy, your CV and the most pertinent references and certificates (at most five). If the vacancy requires particular references and/or certificates, these will be mentioned specifically in our bid for applications or requested separately in the next step.

You can update the details in your application at any time. Simply log in using your access data. The menu item “Edit application” lets you make your changes or, if you’ve changed your mind about applying, delete your data.

We handle your personal data with strict confidentiality and, it goes without saying, pursuant to the legal provisions under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you change your mind about working with us and let us know, your data will be erased from our system.

Your application is examined meticulously by our HR department and the responsible specialists. We make every endeavour to reply to your application as soon as possible. Should this reply take more time than usual, please be patient and bear in mind that we attach great importance to detailed, extensive examinations. After approval you will be invited to a personal talk or an initial interview conducted as a video conference. In a number of cases we may interview you briefly on the phone prior to a personal meeting in order to clarify some important aspects quickly and pragmatically.

After a personal talk where we get to know each other a little, we generally schedule a second talk when we can discuss with you the final outline conditions and introduce you to your future colleagues and/or workplace. This gives us the opportunity of getting to know each other even better, and we obtain a sound basis for our final decision respecting our work with you.

We inform you regularly of the progress your application is making. And if you should have any questions in the meantime or something has changed in your situation as an applicant (e.g. urgent decision in favour of another employer), then please let us know.

You need to submit the one application only when you include the other job (or location) you’re also interested in. Our HR department will consider this in their examination.

If we don’t have the right job for you at present, but you would still like to keep an eye on our vacancies, you can subscribe to our job listings. You will then be informed automatically of new vacancies that might interest you.

Alternatively, our applicant management system lets you submit a speculative application, which we will then examine for its potential. And if recruitment is not possible or there are no plans to provide for this in the near future, you can also join our talent pool. We can then reach you when needed at a later date.

Our principles target a collaboration with our employees over the long term and accordingly we generally offer employment contracts with the customary six-month trial period.

Our principles target a collaboration with our employees over the long term, so we prefer offering permanent employment. Yet our core line of project management means that we must respond flexibly, i.e. that we also cooperate with freelancers from project to project, gladly over the long term as well.

It is important to us that employees do not lose their ability to share their ideas and expertise over all phases of their work on specific projects. This is specified accordingly in our bids for applications. Our applicant management system is open to freelancers as well.

It is our wish to train and evolve our own up-and-coming generation at an early stage. This takes the form of an initial training programme or a dual curriculum. It is very important to us to provide you with qualified support during your training, and with recruitment and deployment options once you have passed the final examination. As a result, we offer places in a dual curriculum or a training programme only when the need arises.

Current training vacancies can be found in our job listings.
